Saturday night wrapped another successful World Expo of Beer in Frankenmuth’s Heritage Park. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect for the thousands of eager beer samplers ready to taste the more than 300 craft brews on tap. One of the best parts about World Expo of Beer, or WEB as the locals call it, is that the entire event is entirely run by volunteers and proceeds are donated to charitable causes. It doesn’t get much better than drinking beer for charity. Event planning starts in October of every year and takes more than 600 volunteers day of to help pour beer, work admissions and sell souvenirs and beer tickets.
Besides the unique beer, Frankenmuth’s own Prost Wine Bar and Charcuterie (the best wine bar in Michigan to get “classy drunk” according to BuzzFeed), hosted beer school Saturday night teaching “students” how to make the best beer cocktails.

Now that you’re sad you missed out, here are three tips to make your trip to next years WEB one you won’t forget (or maybe you will).
- Plan ahead! Hotel’s sell out months in advance. Book early to avoid the “who is going to drive” conversation. Added bonus: many local hotels and a few in Birch Run have shuttles going to and from the event on a continuous loop so the answer to “who is going to drive” is “the shuttle driver!”
- Buy pre-sale tickets. This is a must. Buying ahead of time saves time and gets you and your friends into the event sampling beer as fast as possible. There is a “fast pass” line for those that plan ahead. Tickets typically go on sale on the website in February, check the World Expo of Beer Facebook page for updates.
- Don’t forget… your ID. WEB is a 21 and up only event, for good reason, its all about sampling beer. Everyone who attends the event needs their ID no matter their age. You don’t want to be that friend who forgets it at the hotel and impedes on your friends beer sampling time.
See you next May 19th and 20th for the 2017 World Expo of Beer!
