For almost 30 years, the Frankenmuth Chamber of Commerce and Convention & Visitors Bureau has been creating and distributing a comprehensive Visitor’s Guide.
The Frankenmuth Visitor’s Guide is full of information about lodging, dining, shopping, festivals and attractions we have in town. However, the 2019 guide has all of that and more! Don’t forget to request yours.
The new guide acts as a planning tool but also a beautiful editorial piece because – let’s face it – this year, the photographs are outstanding thanks to you, our visitors! As you flip through the pages, you will notice the use of “fan photos” that have been pulled from Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. So if you are in town enjoying a festival or just strolling down Main Street, all you have to do is snap a cool photo, let us know what you are up to in Frankenmuth and post it on your favorite social network with #SeeFrankenmuth. You never know, you could be featured in our 2020 edition or in a blog post!
This year’s guide switched back to a fold in map for ease of use and accessibility. And if you have youngsters that are bored in the car, just turn to page 18 for a full spread of kids games and learning activities.
To help with readability, this year’s guide has transitioned into a new “chart” style for our listing pages. We wanted to help our guests find their favorite business or discover a new one quickly, so all listings are now the same size with the same great information.
Our visitors are always asking us to share more stories about our history, events and more. We’ve incorporated several of these elements throughout the guidebook this year!
Immediately when you open the guide, on page 3, you can learn a little bit about how Frankenmuth came to be and the history of our German heritage.
Continue onto the next pages and you’ll find one of several new additions, Four Seasons of Fun. Read on to discover the best ways to explore Michigan’s Little Bavaria throughout each season for an entirely new experience every time!
Flip to page 16 for a look at the story of Chicken and Christmas – the history of Bronner’s CHRISTmas Wonderland, Zehnder’s of Frankenmuth and Bavarian Inn Restaurant! A timeline adorns the bottom of the page describing Bronner’s through the years, and a story on the side details “why chicken?” when it comes to how our world-famous chicken dinners came to be.
There’s also two pages dedicated to “must see” places (page 33) and things to do under $10 (page 27)!
We’ve also produced two map pieces for our guests that just want to carry around a little bit less paper.
Our walking map is a standard brochure size that folds out and opens to a larger map, displaying all lodging, things to do, dining and shopping options in Michigan’s Little Bavaria. On the back, there are quick informational pieces like our major festivals and events, a short history of Frankenmuth, and things to do in a day.
The newest map is an 11×17 paper map showing a condensed view of the city of Frankenmuth. The beauty of this style is that when you stop in our Visitor Center for travel materials or directions, our staff can write on the map and tell you exactly where to go! So when you walk out of the Visitor Center and immediately forget – because the beauty of our town has blindsided you – just look down to remember where to go next! Because of its size, this map can be easily folded down to fit in your purse or pocket.
The guide’s shape has changed over the years, going from a full brochure size to a more pocket-friendly guide booklet. What hasn’t changed are the valuable listings by category – lodging, eats & treats, shopping and things to do. What has also been added are handy charts showing an “at a glance” view of dining options and hotel amenities.
Our beloved Bavarian Bargains Coupon Books are also ready for the taking. The 2019 Coupon Book has more than 70 special offers to save right here in town and the best part… the Coupon Books are FREE (as well as the Visitors Guides)! Just stop into the Visitor Center anytime to grab one and start saving on your favorite Frankenmuth attractions, restaurants and shops.
In one year, the Frankenmuth Chamber and Convention & Visitors Bureau distributes 200,000 visitor guides and 85,000 coupon books. The materials are requested from all over the US and parts of Canada by visitors, motor coach companies, meetings, groups and travel agents. The visitor guide is the single best tool you can request – did we mention it’s FREE – before planning your trip to Michigan’s Little Bavaria. The CVB also provides “welcome packets” to groups which includes a visitor guide and coupon book, again, free of charge. Packets can be mailed, dropped off at your hotel in Frankenmuth or picked up at the Visitor Center.
