Frankenmuth Auto Fest is just around the corner and we wanted to make sure you knew exactly what to look forward to. If you didn’t know, AutoFest is a charitable event sponsored by Country Street Machines and the Frankenmuth Rotary Club. So really, you should join in the fun for a good cause!

1.) What is it?

2016 Frankenmuth Autofest is the largest event of the year.

AutoFest is a weekend-long event that showcases classic cars and hot-rods from all of your favorite decades. There is also a great lineup of music and prizes to be won! The event always falls the weekend after Labor Day, so you can mark your calendar ahead of time and never miss out.

2.) What is there to do?

What isn’t there to do?! Come through on Friday night for the Big Block Party – and by big, we mean BIG! Main Street shuts down from 5pm to 10pm all the way from Jefferson to Genesee for this spectacular of classic cars, hot rods, and tons of live music, allowing you to roam the streets and get a closer look at your favorite ride.

If crowds aren’t your thing, you can explore all weekend long in Heritage Park during the Car Show event. The park opens Friday and Saturday at 9am for spectators and continues well into the evening. There’s food and beverages to keep your stomach satisfied while checking out the cars, and various types of vendors to shop at throughout the event. Friday and Saturday are also host to $50 giveaways every 15 minutes until 3pm on Friday and until 4pm on Saturday, so don’t miss out on that. Up the ante on Super Sunday when the giveaway jumps to $100 every hour! Must be present to win.

Saturday night features a rocking show at the Harvey Kern Pavilion with music by ‘Sound Alternative Band’ and the ‘Teen Angels Band. Dance the night away with your friends!

And the fun doesn’t stop there! New this Year is Super Sunday. This special event was brought to life after many requests by attendees and features cars and trucks, both imports and domestics, made between the years of 1979 and 2017. The award ceremony for the weekend will be held on Sunday at 1pm. Over 60 Germany steins will be awarded by category to fellow car enthusiasts, and a car jacket will be given to the Top 25 picks.

3.) What’s the cost?

The Big Block Party on Friday night is completely free, aside from food, drinks and the official event t-shirt that you have to get. The shirt is $15 and comes in sizes Small to 3XL, while supplies last.

Access to the Car Show at Heritage Park is $5 for a day pass or $10 to get in the whole weekend. Don’t forget about snacks and beverages!

Last but not least, to get in to see the live bands on Saturday Night, the cost is $15 per person. Drinks and food will be available for purchase inside as well.

Want to enter your car into the show? Registration opens at 8am each day of the event at Schaefer & Bierlein Dealership (corner of Jefferson & Weiss) and costs $25.

4.) Where should I park?

If you’re coming on Friday night, make sure to be in town before 5pm to avoid the Main Street closure. If you plan on leaving before the end of the Block Party, we recommend parking further away and walking to the event. Parking is available over the Covered Bridge in the Bavarian Inn Lodge general parking lot (NOT at the hotel) or the River Place Shops lot. You can also park to the back of Zehnder’s Restaurant to give you easy access to the back roads so you can cruise out of town while avoiding the closure!

While most hotels are already booked up for this event – some guests book YEARS in advance! – take a look at our great lodging accommodations to see if there is still availability or to help plan for next year! We have attractions to keep the entire family happy as well as over 15 dining options right in our downtown area that are easily accessible.
