German Worship Service
Monthly Second Sunday
Overview
German Worship Service – Sept. 14th
On Sunday, Sept. 14th, St. Lorenz’s monthly German worship service will be held at 11:00 am in the Church - 1030 W. Tuscola Rd, Frankenmuth. The sermon series “A Beatitude Attitude” continues concentrating on Jesus’ spoken Beatitude “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.” (”Selig sind, die reinen Herzens sind; denn sie werden Gott schauen”), a focus on people’s life motivations and the results. The motive(s) of those “pure in heart” stand in stark contrast to the mixed motives of the world. German teacher Bärbel Stürmer and her 8th-grade students will read the scripture lessons. The service features German liturgy and an English sermon entitled “Pure Motives” by Pastor Bill Hoesman based on Matthew 5:8. A solo “Auf Christi Himmelfahrt allein” (O God, Forsake Me Not) will be sung by Jordan Maurer and the congregation will join in singing favorite hymns: “Was kann ich doch für Dank” (How Can I Thank Thee, Lord?), “Laßet uns mit Jesu ziehen” (Let Us Ever Walk With Jesus), „Schönster Herr Jesu“ (Beautiful Savior) and “Nun Gott Lob, es ist vollbracht” (Now the Hour of Worship O’er).
The service will be broadcast locally on Spectrum/Charter cable channel 191. It can also be viewed via the St. Lorenz website (Media - Traditional Worship), the St. Lorenz app, and the Frankenmuth-Gunzenhausen Facebook page.
The next German worship service will be on October 12th, 2025. Let us reflect on the fact that true spiritual fulfillment comes from a heart that is clean and blameless, with the ultimate reward of seeing God.
