The newly named, Frankenmuth Fire Arts Festival is hosting its third year of "fire" related artistic workshops and experiences. This year's event will include an amateur and professional art project asking the participant to follow the theme of "Capturing the Fire in your Art."
Our original "fiery" event will be the iron pour to be held on Saturday, September 25 at 7:00 PM. In advance on Friday, September 24 from 11am-9pm, participants will carve their design into a sand mold. In addition to the carvings, we will also give the participants the opportunity to form their mold using clay.
New this year, we will be teaching artists to carve a three-dimensional piece using styrofoam. All these creations will be poured with the molten iron at Saturday night's iron pour. Back again this year is Firenation, Inc. from Ohio to present workshops allowing participants to create a glass blown solid work pumpkin. Added to to our repertoire this year, is the experience for artists to create their own piece of raku.
