Your Winter & Spring Festival Toolkit

Frankenmuth is known for its many festivals. This toolkit will help you plan for the wonderful Winter and Spring festivals ahead! View our calendar for a full menu of festival options.

1.) Zehnder’s Snowfest

Zehnders Snowfest

When: January 24-29, 2018

Highlights: Snow sculpting & ice carving competitions, warming tents with all of your favorite Frankenmuth treats and hot chocolate, fireworks, and live entertainment.

Travel tips: Parking can be confusing for this festival becasue the Zehnder’s Restaurant parking lot is in use for the warming tent and snow sculptures. So be sure to plan ahead by parking at your hotel and walking downtown, or parking behind the Visitors Center. Also, did you know that the snow and ice sculptures will be left up for public viewing for a week after the festival (weather permitting)? This is a great opportunity to beat the crowds and get up close and personal with the wonderful Winter art.

2.) Bavarian Easter Celebration

Easter eggs hang from a pink and purple tower display for Bavarian Easter Celebration

When: March 16- April 15, 2018

Highlights:  The tradition of decorating Easter Fountains in Germany is over 200 years old and many cities and villages in Franconia still follow this tradition. Since Franconia is the area in which our settlers originated, we thought it appropriate to mirror the Osterbrunnen tradition in our city.

Travel tips: The Easter Celebration has the longest duration of any festival we offer in Frankenmuth.  It runs for 4 weeks straight and the decorations never come down during that time. That means great photo opportunities for you, and more time to enjoy the flowers, eggs and colors of Osterbrunnen.

3.) Ragtime Festival

When: April 18-21, 2018

Highlights: Located at Zehnder’s Restaurant, events include Vaudeville Night, Silent Movies, Seminars, and a Ragtime Dinner Concert.

Travel tip: There are even opportunities for guests to meet and greet the Ragtime artists and ask them questions about their interest in Ragtime.

4.) Bringin’ Back the 80’s

When: April 20-21, 2018

Highlights: Dress up as your favorite ’80s icon, tease your hair up nice and big, and put your leg warmers on! Pay tribute to one of the greatest decades by dancing to tribute bands, entering into the costume contest, and take a walk down memory lane.

Travel tips: There is a shuttle bus that runs between most hotels and will take you to the festival at the Harvey Kern Pavilion.

5.) Red Hat Days

When: April 23-25, 2018

Highlights: Come and enjoy a day of shopping, good food, great entertainment and fun with your Red Hat friends at Zehnder’s Restaurant. Includes:  Shopping at the “Red Hat Shopper’s Corner”, Famous Chicken Luncheon, glass of wine, special dessert, table favors, and entertainment by “Evelyn Smallbladder”.

Travel tip: You can win shopping discounts and door prizes!

6.) World Expo of Beer

World Expo of Beer

Travel tip: Come on Friday to beat the crowds! This festival tends to be busier on Saturday.

7.) Dog Bowl

When: May 26-27, 2018

Highlights: Dog Bowl takes place at the River Place Shops and includes: weiner dog races, dog agility competitions, and even a dog parade!
