March 12th is National Flower Day and here in Frankenmuth, flowers are serious business. If you’ve read any other posts by our guest blogger Dan Hopp, Green Space Manager at the Frankenmuth City, you know he knows his flowers. Visiting Frankenmuth in the Summer is a spectacular time to take in the beautiful downtown charm but also revel in the gorgeous display of flowers and plants from the top of Main Street all the way south of downtown. Last year, the city used 350 flats and over 8,000 4″ annuals to create the masterpiece thousands of visitors enjoyed. This year will be no exception. Check out the latest preview of what you can expect to see blooming downtown when you visit this summer.
With our quick spurt of spring/summer like weather, it’s time to start thinking flowers! We are excited to add a new Dahlia to our pallet. “Mystic Dreamer” is a new variety that has burgundy leaves and vibrant purple flowers. Currently we have “Mystic Dreamer’s” sister, “Mystic Illusion” which has burgundy leaves and vivid yellow flowers. Along with this new Dahlia we will be featuring a 20’ tall flower pole all in petunia varieties. This tall tower is going to wow even the faintest of petunia lovers. So March 12th may be a little early for full flower color downtown, but it is coming and it is coming soon!
We can’t wait to see you this summer! Don’t forget to request your free visitor guide before you arrive.
