German Worship Service at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church

St. Lorenz Church

On Sunday, November 11th, St. Lorenz’s monthly German worship service will be held at 11:00 am in the Church. The theme for this service is “Thanksgiving” with special emphases on Veterans of the Armed Forces as well as Veterans of the Cross of Christ. This Service is 100 years to the hour of the end of WW I – the Armistice (11/11/11:00 am). The service will include participation by St. Lorenz students, use our traditional German Service liturgy and include an English sermon by Pastor Bill Hoesman entitled “Giving Thanks for God and Country”.  Scripture readers include Kate Hetzner (8th grade), Amelia Schmitt (8thgrade), Kyden Specht (7th grade) and Frau Ionela Bauer. In addition, the Lord’s prayer (Vaterunser) will be led by Eloise Schmitt (5th grade) and soloist Emily Haubenstricker will sing “Hab’ Dank” (Give Thanks).  Members of St. Lorenz’s 4th grade class will sing „Danke Für Diesen Guten Morgen“and the congregation will join in singing favorite hymns including “Wohl Einem Haus” (Oh Blest the House), “Nun Danket All’ und Bringet Ehr’ (All Ye Who on this Earth Do Dwell), and “Gott Segne Unser Land: (God Bless Our Native Land).
